Hillside's Future is in Good Hands

As we approach the upcoming municipal election, it’s important to celebrate the incredible progress our village has made thanks to the dedication of our current leaders and candidates who have worked tirelessly to make Hillside a better place for all. Here’s a look at just some of the accomplishments under their leadership:

Top Rated Fire Department

One of only 388 fire departments nationwide to receive the ISO Class 1 rating, the highest honor given to fire departments across the country which results in lower fire insurance rates!

Summer Nights Concert Series

Seven years of hosting this successful event, attracting thousands of Hillside residents and visitors. With over 60 vendors, over 400 cars in Cruise Night, and diverse cultural nights, Summer Nights has become a highlight of the year that has been featured on Chicago TV!

Supporting our Seniors

Championed free snow plowing and grass cutting programs for seniors and disabled residents, ensuring they have access to the services they need at an affordable price. Launched a taxicab program to help seniors stay connected and access essential services. Also provides a daily wellness check program for seniors.

Thriving Senior Social Group

Revived and active, hosting social get-togethers and fun outings for our seniors to stay connected and engaged in the community.

Celebrating Diversity

Hillside is one of the most diverse villages in Illinois. Thanks to Trustee Claudell Johnson and the Multi-Cultural Committee, the D.I.C.E. Multicultural event brought our community together to experience the richness of our diversity. One of the first suburbs to form a Community Relations Commission to promote racial harmony who sponsor events like the Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast.

Promoting Leadership

The Board proudly championed the promotion of its first-ever Latino Deputy Chief of Police, reflecting our commitment to diversity and strong leadership within our police department and the first Latino female Village Treasurer.

Booming Town Center

Facilitated the development of our vibrant 32-acre town center, with exciting stores like Target, Michaels, Ross, and HomeGoods, providing more choices for our residents and creating a thriving hub.

Autumnfest

A favorite annual tradition endorsed by our leaders, bringing families together with live music, free kiddie rides, pumpkin sales, arts & crafts vendors, food, and more!

Celebrating Patriotism

Hosted the 22nd Annual Veterans Day Parade and Veterans Dinner, continuing a proud tradition of honoring our brave veterans. Trustee Jack Kramer, an Air Force Veteran and Broadview-Hillside American Legion Member, alongside Mayor Tamburino, a life-long member of the VFW and American Legion, both veterans themselves, show unwavering support for our military community. The Village also sponsors a Taxi Program for Veterans.

Youth Activities

Host an Easter Egg Hunt, a Halloween bonfire night, a Visit with Santa, fun events like Game Truck Day, Reptile show, a bowling extravaganza… and much more!

Outstanding Police Department

Innovative police procedures like the use of drones, a detection program that finds vehicles with outstanding warrants, a strict policy regarding use of force and preventing racial profiling, and today has the most police officers ever

patrolling our streets!

We’ve accomplished so much, but the work isn’t done. As we move forward, we continue to build on these successes and make Hillside an even better place to live, work, and play. Stay tuned for more updates on our incredible candidates and their vision for the future of our community!
